The SDI Open Water Diver course has the following contents:

8-10 hours of theoretical training (diving physics, diving safety, environment, equipment)

1 pool unit in which we complete all the required exercises in a safe area (in the pool or limited open water)

At least 4 dives in the open water - here we practice all the exercises trained in the pool again in the "real situation". All required exercises must be shown without errors in order to obtain the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Diver certificate (this may lead to more than 4 dives)

Final examination on theory and practice

Where you complete your pool and open water units is up to you. Ideal conditions for the pool can be found in the Alpenbad Liezen or in the shallow water area at Lake Grundlsee. The open water dives can take place in the Grundlsee or in another water of your choice. A short trip to Croatia is also very popular with our customers, where we can do the open water dives in the crystal clear sea.

After completing the SDI Open Water Diver course you are entitled to dives up to a max. Depth of 18 m always together with min. 1 Diving partners, which must be done as so-called zero-time dives for safety, as well as with normal compressed air.

After successful completion of the exams you will receive your personal SDI Open Water Scuba Diver ID Card. With this small card in the format of a credit card you are then entitled to go diving worldwide or to rent diving equipment.

SDI/TDI is one of the few diving organizations that is not only a member of RSTC-Europe [www.rstc-eu.org], but is also EUF certified [www.euf.eu] and has thus certified the courses according to ISO.

The SDI Open Water Diver course can also be booked for 11 year olds, but then it is called Junior Open Water Scuba Diver, this is possible from 11-15 years!
